The year in review...

But first, guess what I've been doing all morning? If you guessed prepping for my 'Thanksgiving' dinner for tomorrow. Ding! Ding! Ding! If anybody recalls, MIL decided to steal Thanksgiving away from me this year. So, I put the turkey back in the freezer and have laid low waiting for an opportunity to cook that bad bird.

Well, tomorrow is the day. I've made cornbread for the dressing. Cooked green beans with the leftover ham. Baked the macaroni and cheese. The fruit cocktail and mandarin oranges for fruit salad are draining in the sink as I type. I made the brine for the turkey. All that needs to be cooked tomorrow is the turkey, dressing, and yeast rolls.

I'm sooooo ready. Oh, and MIL knows nothing about it. I'm convinced she'd decide to move her New Year's Day celebration to tomorrow if she were told. So everyone is sworn to silence. Shhhh!

I'm half joking about MIL. But I don't want to take any chances. ;)

Oh, I don't think I told y'all I got a new camera. The Man wanted to make sure we had one for Christmas, so we picked it out together. I had my eyes on a Canon, but when we got to trying them out, we both liked the Kodak EasyShare better. So far, I can't complain. It's been pretty easy to use and upload pics. The Man put all our Christmas morning pics from it on DVD. It's a nice little gift to give grandparents who can't be there. MIL really liked hers.

I can't remember where I stole saw this. I know it was from someone's personal blog though. Duh. ;)

1. Drinking buddy of the year
I can't say The Man since he's never had a taste of alcohol. Yes. You read that right. Not even a taste. I would have to say it's been a toss up between MIL and Movie Girl. MIL makes a mean margarita! And Movie Girl is always up to meeting for a drink...or three. Heh.

2. Lifetime Service Award (longest friend)
That would be the Twinsies. We grew up together and I can't imagine life without those two girlies.

3. Newcomer Award (newest friend)
IRL - Tiffany, the waitress. She flirted incessantly with both The Man and I. I wanted to bring her home with us by the time we got ready to leave.
Online - I've 'met' so many great people out here. Bud, Derfina, Miss Fish, Mimi...and so many more!

4. High Point of the Year
Actually doing something about the extra weight I had been carrying around.

5. Low Point of the Year
This summer when I misunderstood what was being said to me and I took things in a very wrong direction. Oops!

6. Best Holiday
Christmas, of course.

7. Your Song for the Year
'I'm Yours' by Jason Mraz

8. Movie of the Year
This was the year that a movie became my new 'favoritest' movie ever - 'The Dark Knight'.

9. Most Memorable Moment of the Year
Personally, was when The Man let me see just how vulnerable he could be. It was a real eye opener.

10. Best Laugh of the Year
During the 'tree scene' in the movie Tropic Thunder. I laughed for hours and hours after that. Hell, I'm STILL laughing. Damn you, Jack Black! *snicker*

11. Whom did you spend Valentines with?
The Man took me out for a movie and some good food.

12. Best Relationship
The summer found us in a precarious state, but I can honestly say that right now, The Man and I have never been better.

13. What were you for Halloween?
I was on the football field being a proud Senior Mom. Music Girl was great enough to take the little ones trick or treating.

14. Restaurant of the Year
Camino. I can't get enough of their nachos supremos. YUM!

15. Book of the Year
The only one I can think of is Twilight and that's only because the movie was so freaking anticipated.

16. Best Decision Made This Year
My new(to me) car. I love her so much!

17. What are your plans for next year?
Get back on plan health-wise. Stick to a stricter budget. We've GOT to put more towards savings.

18. TV Show of the Year
The Big Bang Theory because Sheldon is heeeelarious! Honorable mention: Boston Legal, Burn Notice, The Closer, Samantha Who, and a dozen others.

19. Most Loyal Friends
The Man, the Twinsies, Music Girl...

20. Biggest Change of the Year
Dropping 70+ lbs!

21. Biggest Influence Award
My kids keep my head out of the clouds and my feet firmly planted on the ground.

22. New Year’s Resolution
Get to my goal weight. I'm gonna do it too!

23. Things I’m looking forward to in 2009
Mini Man's graduation. *sniff*

24. Things I hope to accomplish by the end of 2009
Again, I want to be at my goal weight - well before the end of 2009. I'm hoping our savings account is bursting too. hehehe

Saturday survey for Monday

Found this here.

When was the last time you splurged on a gift for yourself?
I'm always buying myself stuff. I went out alone Saturday night and used a few of my giftcards. Surprisingly, I bought only 1 bra and 0 panties. I was in a clothes buying mood I guess.

Have you ever bought yourself a gift for Christmas, Valentines Day, a birthday or any other occasion and then wrapped it up and pretended it was from someone else?
I've bought myself pressies, but never went that far with it. Weird.

Snackie Sunday

I will: Step up my exercise routine. I'll be adding running sometime in 2009. I hate running. Always have. But there's something about it now that makes me want to do it and enjoy it. My better eating habits will return. I've slacked off in December and my lack of energy is really getting to me. I know it's all the sugar and carbs slowing me down. Not to mention the extra 5# I've gained this month. UGH!

I won't: Worry as much about what people think of me. Actually, I'm pretty damn sick of this area of my life. Around certain people, I've had to put up a completely fake conservative facade - mostly to keep from 'rocking the boat'. No more. If they don't like the real me, to hell with them.

Back with a meme vengeance...

Links over there ------>

3x Thursday
1. What are you doing for Xmas this year? Spent it at home and then went to MIL's house from 1-5. Back home for a nap that turned into bedtime. The Man and I were exhausted!

2. What items are on your wishlist this year? The 2 things I kept telling everybody when they asked - a new mp3 player and giftcards.

3. What do you think about the idea of gift giving in general. Do you think it's necessary? Why/why not? I love the idea of gift giving. Who in their right mind doesn't like giving and receiving pressies?! Of course, it's not necessary. It's more tradition - and expected from the kids though.

Thursday Thunks
1. Have you ever started your Christmas tree on fire? No. How does one do that anyway?
2. How many rings do you wear? 2
3. I say "dog barking", you say shut the hell up Scrappy!
4. How many pictures are in the room that you are in. On the wall - 0. Around in other spots - LOTS!
5. Do you decorate the outside of your house for Christmas? The Man always threatens to do a 'Clark Griswold', but never does. We just do the inside of the house.
6. What's your favorite Christmas song? Christmas Canon Rock - and I got to hear it live last Sunday. Great show!
7. What do you fill your Christmas stockings with? Things they need, want, and will use. I rarely get something just for the heck of filling a stocking. I put thought into it.
8. How many times a week do you charge your cell phone? At least twice.
9. Do you own any exercise equipment? What are they? Yes, weights and elliptical machine. DVDs. Mats. Shoes. Clothes. Pedometer.
10. What's your cookie jar look like? I don't own a cookie jar.

Friday 5
What’s one really cool/useful/nice thing you purchased for yourself this year? Car.
What’s one area of your life you really improved this year? Health.
Who or what was a regular source of encouragement or inspiration to you this year? Me, myself, and I.
What’s something nice you did for someone else this year? Offered support and understanding.
In what way was 2008 better than 2007? They were both great years, but 2008 was the year I got my va-va-va-voom back. ;)

Saturday Six
1. How many members of your family not living with you did you see on Christmas Day? 10.
2. When spending time with family, how long after you arrive do you begin to feel “antsy” about being there too long? If we are at MIL's house, it depends on how she's acting. There have been times I've wanted to leave as soon as I arrived. This year, we stayed for 4 hours and there was only one instance that I felt like bolting for the door. I let it drop and just ignored her.
3. Is your family more likely to have pleasant discussions or heated arguments during a big meal? Do you join in or quietly listen in? MIL always wants to bring something up. The outcome depends on who she is trying to goad. I keep it pleasant and will ignore her or talk about something else. In my family, we rarely have heated arguments during a meal. Dinnertime is for eating and light conversation.
4. Take the quiz: How Do You Really Feel About Your Family?

You Feel Nurturing Toward Your Family

You tend to entertain your family and make them laugh. However, your jokes may mask some anxiety you feel around your family.

You believe that your family is truly happy, even if there are minor disagreements and squabbles.

When times get difficult, you are able to be the adult in your family. You are able to keep your family together.

You tend to be the rock in your family. You support everyone in their times of need, and they take your advice seriously.

5. Consider the family member whose views are most opposite of your own: If your friends or co-workers met the person, what single topic would probably be the source of the most embarrassment for you if your friends heard that person talking? All my friends would be shocked to hear almost anything my MIL had to say. She's very old-fashioned and conservative. She has told me many times all her gay son needs is an older woman that will take care of him. She just doesn't get it.

6. Did you get everything you wanted for Christmas? I got most of what I wanted. I must not have been as naughty as The Man says I was.
What one thing that you didn’t get would you like to have received? Target giftcard. I love that stupid place. hehehe

Saturday 9: Crazy Sam's Last Meme of 2008

1. What was the best thing that happened to you personally in 2008? Losing weight/getting healthier.
2. What was the worst thing that happened to you personally in 2008? The crap hitting the fan this summer.
3. What was the best thing to happen to all of us in 2008? I'm hoping the outcome of the US presidential election will have a positive effect on everyone sooner rather than later. If we Americans can all come together - no matter who we voted for - we can help our President elect get us out of the shitter we have found ourselves in.
4. What was the worst thing to happen to all of us in 2008? Some say it's the economy. I say it's the government bail outs. Let 'em fail. They had it coming. What's the lesson learned if taxpayers have to bail companies out at every turn?
5. What was the best gift you receive during the ’08 holidays? I loved all my pressies!
6. What was the best gift (most appropriate or best received) you gave during the ’08 holidays? MIL actually really liked her gift this year. The boys loved all their Bakugan stuff. Mini Me can't decide what she likes best.

Have yourself a merry little Christmas...

The last couple days have been so freaking hectic. Like everyone else, I guess. Will probably be offline for at least a few more days. Hope you all have a very Merry Christmas!

Sunday, December 21, 2008

I've been at it again...

Movie Girl, Music Girl, and I were unleashed on the masses of the Big City lastnight. Don't worry. Minimal damage was done.

Today TM is taking me to see Trans-Siberian Orchestra. We're making a day of it. So, I probably won't get to commenting on others SS posts until tomorrow.

Sunday Stealing: The Screaming Masses' Meme

1. What is a nickname a former (or present) lover gave you?
Hot Mama. I'm not sure how to take that. I like the 'Hot' part, but being called 'Mama' by a non-kid is kind of weird.

2. How do you style your hair?
Wash, condition, air dry - that will leave the natural curl in. Sometimes I whip out the straightener - like this morning - and you wouldn't think my hair has a bit of natural curl in it.
If you just would say "cut" what style is it?
It's long and all the same length. *shrug*

3. What's your least favorite Christmas song?
'Last Christmas' by Wham. I much prefer The Beatles version over there in my playlist. ------>

I'm a closet introvert. HA!

6. What was the last book you read?

7. What's one piece of fiction that changed your life?

8. If you are attracted to someone who is already in a relationship (or married), what might do you do?
I'm a flirt, but I'm an awkwardly amusing flirt around someone I find attractive. I'm harmless. Really.

9. Is there anything that has made you unhappy recently?
No. I'm easy - to make happy.

10. What's your favorite dessert?
The chocolate explosion cake and ice cream thingy I washed down with a margarita lastnight was quite tasty. I usually like plain cheesecake though.

11. How long does it take you to get ready in the morning?
I can be out the door within 20 minutes of getting out of bed. It's often more like 40 though.

12. Name one website that you visit daily.
Why do you read it?
I just like to window shop.

13. What was your last job before either you are at home or at another job??
Owner of a different business. What else?

14. Do you like to clean?
For $1000/hour I'd even love to clean. You've got to be kidding me! Cleaning is a c-h-o-r-e. I get no joy from it.

15. What was the last song to get stuck in your head?
'Love Song' by Tantric
So here you are you're knockin' at my door with saddened eyes
The color is the same but there's a change
The difference is between the little lies I've told
To keep the peace. The love was still the same

Oh it's better in life to lose a minute
Then have to go through life and really never get to live it
Your primrose path is just an illusion
I'm sick of all your dirty lies that caused this confusion

I never wanna hear another love song
It's all all bunch of lies and I've been put on
I know its like I'm bitter, I don't give a shit
I hope you're really happy and you choke on it
I never wanna hear another love poem
Proclaiming all your love in truth there was none
I know it's like I'm bitter, I dont give a shit
I hope you're really happy and you choke on it

God forgive me for these random things
The little things I do, it's really not my truth
Everything is overwhelming me, constantly disturbing me
'Til I get away from you

It's better in life to lose a minute
Then have to go through life and really never get to live it

I never wanna hear another love song
It's all all bunch of lies and I've been put on
I know its like I'm bitter, I don't give a shit
I hope you're really happy and you choke on it
I never wanna hear another love poem
Proclaiming all your love in truth there was none
I know it's like I'm bitter, I don't give a shit
I hope you're really happy and you choke on it

And I smile as you listen and you're thinking to yourself
You're the reason why you're living in this hell

I never wanna hear another love song
It's all all bunch of lies and I've been put on
I know its like I'm bitter, I don't give a shit
I hope you're really happy and you choke on it
I never wanna hear another love poem
Proclaiming all your love in truth there was none
I know it's like I'm bitter, I don't give a shit
I hope you're really happy and you choke on it

I never wanna hear another love song
It's all all bunch of lies and I've been put on
I know its like I'm bitter, I don't give a shit
I hope you're really happy and you choke on it
I never wanna hear another love poem
Proclaiming all your love in truth there was none
I know it's like I'm bitter, I don't give a shit
I hope you're really happy and you choke on it
On it
On it
On it, on it, on it
I hope you choke on it

16. What's the last movie you saw?
The Day the Earth Stood Still
The kid in the movie ruined it for me.

Get up at 2a.m. I'd rather 'sleep in' and get up at 5 or so.

19. Best time of your life?
Right here and now is good.

20. What are you most looking forward to in the coming year?
The kids going back to school. I kid.
I'm hoping for some sort of vacation this year. Maybe a getaway with just TM.

I'm not a psycho, man...

I think I scared the crap out of a guy today. I ran into him at KMart in another town early this a.m. I then ran into him at WalMart in my town an hour later. We left WalMart at the same time, almost bumping carts. I got in behind him at the red light leaving WM. Everytime he turned, I turned. He kept looking in his rearview mirror. After the fourth turn, he stopped using his blinker. Didn't matter, I was going the same way. Two turns away from my road, he pulls into a driveway. After I pass, I see him backing out and going the other direction. I think he thought the psycho friendly gal who kept smiling and saying 'hey' to him all morning was smitten and trying to find out where he lived. Silly man. hehehe

I got The Man's Christmas shopping done today. He's always one of the hardest to buy for because if he needs/wants something, he'll just go get it. He did give me a few hints this morning, so he's getting Craftsman tool sets, clothes, a couple cold weather things he needs, and a few unmentionables. *ahem*

I found the last item I needed for my Christmas Eve pressie to TM at Cato. Have I ever said how much I love lingerie departments/stores? As soon as I walked into Cato today, Shannon took me straight to the new stuff. Ah yes, the salesgirls there know me well. I'm all set for the 24th. ;)

I finished wrapping the last of the kid's pressies today. I figure a few more small stocking stuffers that I can get when I'm out this weekend will be it. I keep adding and adding on. I'm just glad all the big stuff is bought, wrapped, and ready to go under the tree.

And what did you do ALL day?

Today was a blur of wrapping paper, bows, tape, and scissors. I need a margarita...and a shot of Jack.

Music Girl was in an accident driving to my house yesterday. She's okay. I told her taking that curve too fast one of these days would find her up against the fence. I was right. Her passenger side mirror is dangling. Well, was. It's since been duct taped. She got mud in her tires. She was a trembling mess by the time I got to her. But the cop was cute. ;)

After all the commotion, we decorated the tree and then TM took us to Applebees. I do so love their margarita swirls. *slurp*

Monday Mumbling...

Finally got to go shopping with Movie Girl today. She works way too much! I was able to help her get at least halfway through her list. Wednesday we'll do the rest.

Also, went through all the toy boxes this morning and they are free of unused toys now. Throwaways are in the trash and donations are boxed up. Whew! I'm so glad that's out of the way.

Tomorrow, Music Girl is coming over to help me wrap my storage room full of pressies. I've got the eggnog and bourbon ready. Drunk wrapping at it's finest y'all. hehehe

Manic Monday #146
Have you ever returned an item to a store for a refund after having used it?
Yes. There have been things that didn't work right - or at all - and I'm not about to 'take a loss' on them. I take them back and either get a refund or exchange for another brand. I've also returned shoes and clothes that didn't hold up after the first or second time I wore them. When a strap or zipper breaks when I haven't even got to 'break it in', it's going back.

However, I've never bought something with the intent of using/wearing it once and then returning it.

You are going out for the evening. If your partner objects to what you are wearing, would you change your clothing?
The Man has never done this. If he did, I'd consider changing. It would depend on the situation. He did say once that the shirt I had on was very revealing. I grabbed a jacket out of the closet for a cover up, but he told me to put it back. He explained that he wasn't complaining, just making an observation.

What item that you don’t currently possess would you most like to have in your home?
I would really like a couple new sofas and a recliner for the living room. We've had what we got for almost 10 years and it's getting worn.

No thanks.

Sunday somethings...

Links over there ------>

Sunday Stealing: The Christmas Meme

1. Wrapping paper or gift bags? Mostly all wrapping paper with a few bags here and there. Kids like to rip paper, so I keep bags to a minimum for them. I'll use bags for the adult gifts we take to my MIL's house. Easier to put together and easier to transport.

2. Real tree or Artificial? Fake all the way. The Man has allergies and I don't like vacuuming needles 10 times a day.

3. When do you put up the tree? Anytime after Thanksgiving. Ours is up now, but still undecorated. We need to go to the Big City(again!) to get the LED lights The Man wants. Lights have to go on first, so the tree is naked.

4. When do you take the tree down? Sometime after the new year and before the kids go back to school.

5. Do you like eggnog? I do. I like it better when liquor is added to it.

6. Favorite gift received as a child? Bike, skates, skateboard, basketball goal...

7. Hardest person to buy for? MIL because she doesn't ever seem to like anything. Even things she says she wants, her nose will turn up at it once it's unwrapped.

8. Easiest person to buy for? Any of the kids.

9. Do you have a nativity scene? I do, but it's not displayed. It was a gift.

10. Mail or email Christmas cards? I don't send Christmas cards.

11. Worst Christmas gift you ever received? Any kitchen machines/utensils/gadgets I didn't ask for. MIL is usually the offender giver.

12. Favorite for Christmas dinner? I like it all!

13. When do you start shopping for Christmas? This year has been VERY weird. I started the day after Thanksgiving. I usually don't start until 2 weeks before Christmas.

14. Have you ever recycled a Christmas present? I have absolutely regifted. Or if it's clothes that were too big or didn't fit right, I'd donate them.

15. Favorite thing to eat at Christmas? What's the difference between this ? and #12?

16. Lights on the tree? Of course!

17. Favorite Christmas song? Christmas Canon Rock...or anything in my playlist over there. ------>

18. Travel at Christmas or stay home? We stay home and then go to MIL's in the afternoon. I like being home for Christmas.

19. Angel on the tree top or a star? Mini Man has a Santa on there right now. It's the only thing on the tree. When we get it all decorated, I'll put my light up angel on top.

20. Open the presents Christmas Eve or morning? Christmas morning, but I can be bribed to allow one present to be opened on the Eve. ;)

5. Tina Fey(She's funny and does a great Palin, but fascinating?)

That left Barack Obama, Sarah Palin, and Michael Phelps - all who really deserved to be on her list, I think. What about Vladamir Putin, Ben Bernanke, Randy Pausch, Robert Downey Jr., Stephenie Meyer, Brett Favre(although I really don't like him), Dara Torres, Sam Houser, Judd Apatow, Rafael Nadal, Thom Yorke(Radiohead), Mark Zuckerberg, Christian Bale...

Tagged! and more...

The Fish tagged me for the 7 random or weird things about me meme.

The rules:(And we all know how I feel about rules.)
Link to the person who tagged you.
Post the rules on your blog.
Share seven things about yourself - some random, some weird.
Tag seven people at the end of your post and link to them.
Let each person know they’ve been tagged and leave a comment on their blog and/or Twitter.
Let the tagger know when your entry is posted.

Seven things about Poptart:
1. I drink Diet Coke morning, noon, and night. At home, there is always a glass of it within reach - even when I go to bed. I take a bottle with me when I go out. In the new year, I'm going to try to stop drinking it as much. Wish me luck. I'll need all I can get.

2. I lost the toenail on my big right toe a couple years ago. It grew back. I thought it would be all weird looking for some reason, but it looks the same as the old one.

3. I have very little patience with stupid people. My family will physically take a step back when they feel I'm going to go off on someone - like the condescending prick last night. Yes, I'm a woman. No, you don't have to explain the fucking Casio digicam to me like I'm 10. Oh yeah, they stepped back and watched.

4. I cry when I'm really angry. Always have. People mistakenly take that as a sign of vulnerability. Think again. If I'm mad AND crying, you better get out of my way.

5. My first words ever to The Man were not nice. His attitude rubbed me the wrong way. We became fast friends. Go figure.

6. Even though outwardly I seem to be very confident and sociable, inwardly I often feel shy and socially awkward - especially around men I find attractive.

7. I've pissed in the middle of an Interstate highway before - in bumper to bumper traffic. I was 18 and it wasn't a dare. Did I say I was also on a first date? A blind first date?

Now, the rules say to tag 7 people. I'm not going to. Neener! ;)

Saturday 9: 'Tis the Season

1. Do you enjoy receiving or giving presents more? I know we're supposed to say giving, but today I'm going to say receiving. I love getting pressies!

2. What is you favorite holiday film? A Christmas Story(Ralphie!), Christmas Vacation, The Santa Clause, Elf, Love Actually, One Magic Christmas, Mixed Nuts, Christmas With the Kranks, Christmas in Connecticut(1945), etc. You didn't really expect me to just pick one or two, right?

3. Have you started or finished your gift shopping? I WILL be done, finished, finito today. Oh yes I will!

4. What does this time of year mean to you? It's a time for families to get together. It's a time to reflect on the year we had. It's a time to make plans for the new year.

5. What is your favorite holiday song? Take a look at my music player over there ------>

6. What do you love about the holiday season? The excitement. The goodwill. The giving. The receiving. Decorating. Christmas Eve night alone with The Man. Christmas morning. Family.

7. What do you hate about the holiday season? Scrooges. Being subjected to listening to 'Last Christmas' sung by Wham. GAH!

8. Do religious ceremonies play a part in your holiday traditions? If yes, how? No. I'm a heathen raising heathens.

9. Who will you spend the holidays with? My wonderful family.

Your Christmas is Most Like: A Christmas Story

Loving, fun, and totally crazy.

Don't shoot your eye out!

Snow day with no snow...

We didn't get any snow yesterday, but the schools are closed today 'for weather'. We have a couple schools in our system that are 'up on the mountain' and if they have to close for icy roads and such, the whole county has to close. So the kids are out for that reason. They love the mountain. I have a love/hate relationship with it. ;)

The Man and I got most of our shopping done in the Big City yesterday. It wasn't for lack of trying to get it all done though. Music Girl kind of derailed us from our plans and we spent more time doing things with her. The Man has said he doesn't want to shop with her again. He says he can tolerate it with me - even when I drag him through all the lingerie departments. But Music Girl is another thing. Oh well. We just have a handful of gifts to get now. No biggie.

Even though the Big City wasn't supposed to get snow, it did. It started sleeting while we were eating at TGIFriday's. And it was full on snowing when we came out of Peebles an hour or so later. The Man was in heaven. Heaven! I kept calling the house to see if it had started there and everytime, nada - nothing. We just got rain and sleet that froze after midnight. ACK!

Just want to add that even though I haven't been commenting the last couple of days, I've still been stalking reading my favorite bloggy friends. You all know how it is at times.

Goodwill, snow, and a Christmas meme...

Ever been in a Goodwill store? Well, I hadn't until last weekend. I walked the aisles and aisles of clothes kind of in a daze. I'm not really sure why. The Man could tell there was something off about me and asked what was up. All that I could say was that I felt weird. A few minutes later, I had this intense feeling to get out of there and we left.

Ever get a feeling like that about a place? I still can't put my finger on it. When I was a kid, I'd get uncomfortable feelings about people or homes/places. Oh well. It just makes me wonder. You know?

The news is calling for at least an inch of snow in our area starting sometime this afternoon. The Man grew up in places that would get a lot of snow and he gets excited anytime snow is mentioned. But this is the South and we don't handle snow too well. The grocery stores will be packed this morning. The school board will be debating whether to close school early - even though it's not supposed to start until after 3:00. The gas stations will have lines of cars with people filling their tanks AND gas cans for generators. By 3:00, businesses will decide to close so employees can get home safely. Again, this is before the first flake falls!

Okay. I'm probably exaggerating. The first flake might have fallen. *grin*

Our plans aren't changing because of the impending blizzard snow. We're still going to the Big City to shop and shop and shop some more. Music Girl will be there and we hope to meet up with her for dinner if her schedule permits.

1. Egg Nog or Hot Chocolate? Egg nog with 'juice'. Heh.
2. Does Santa wrap presents or just sit them under the tree? Santa has the elves wrap the presents - including most of the stocking stuffers.

4. Do you hang mistletoe? No.
5. When do you put your decorations up? When I feel like it.
6. What is your favorite holiday dish (excluding dessert)? I like it all!
7. Favorite holiday memory as a child: Finding and playing with presents before Mom wrapped them.
8. When and how did you learn the truth about Santa? I was around 7 or 8 and heard my sister's boyfriend playing with my Santa toy. I was in bed and everybody thought I was asleep.
9. Do you open a gift on Christmas Eve? No.
10. How do you decorate your Christmas Tree? Lights, lots of red decorations, red garland, things the kids bring home from school, etc.
11. Snow! Love it or Dread it? I like it, but I don't like driving in it.
12. Can you ice skate? On my ass, maybe.
13. Do you remember your favorite gift? There's been many - bike, basketball goal, giftcards, ring, stereo equipment...
14. What is the most important thing about the Holidays for you? Slowing down and spending time with the family.
15. What is your favorite Holiday Dessert? Pecan pie, death by chocolate.
16. What is your favorite holiday tradition? Driving around town looking at lights.
17. What tops your tree? A small angel that lights up.
18. Which do you prefer giving or receiving? Giving, but I don't mind receiving either. ;)
19. What is your favorite Christmas Song? Christmas Canon Rock.
20. Candy Canes! Yuck or Yum? Eh...
21. What do you want for Christmas? Within the last 24 hours, both my DVD player and digicam have broken. I'm adding those to my wishlist, but it's probably too late. Oh well.
22. Do you attend an annual Christmas Party? No.

Almost done!

I am thisclose to being done with Christmas shopping. YES! I've never been this far ahead in...forever. In fact, The Man and I usually don't even start until now - a couple weeks before Christmas. One more outing with The Man tomorrow and we should be done, done, done.

Then, next week while the kids are in school, I'll wrap, wrap, wrap. And go through all their toyboxes and rooms and get rid of toys that are broken or haven't been played with in a long time. Broken ones will be thrown away and good ones will be cleaned and donated.

We never made it to Frederick's this past weekend. We were in Target and discussing where to go next. We had time to stop one more place and Olive Garden won out. We were both starving and McD's drive thru just wouldn't cut it. So, I told him as long as I could get something from Target, I'd be all right with not going to Frederick's. I picked out some cute, red panties and a black and white chemise. A bit conservative, but still sexy.

TMI Tuesday #164
1. Do you consider sexy underthings a present for you or your partner?
Both! I love receiving sexy lingerie as a gift. I don't consider it selfish for The Man to get such things for me since we both enjoy it. He can be a bit more conservative when it comes to wearing things for me, but he's getting better. Yes, I'm very much a visual person too and like seeing him in sexy stuff.

2. What are 3 characteristics of "your type"?
*Extrovert - I couldn't be with some quiet, shy type.
*Easy going - Uptight and moody is something I can't deal with.
*Independent - You a mama's boy? Or looking to be taken care of? I'm not your girl.
Have your best relationship(s) been with your type or when you have gone against it?
It's a disaster when I go against my 'type'.

3. What is on your Santa list this year?
My list for The Man is:

*Victoria's Secret giftcard
*a new 'toy' - My favorite is toast. The 'motor' died. *grin*
*new cd player for my car

4. Generally speaking, who has historically had a higher libido, you or your partner(s)?
The Man and I both have had consistently high libidos throughout our relationship - which we consider normal. As for other partners, I won't go there.

5. The unsculptured female bush seems to have passed from fashion. What about men, do you think they need to trim and shave "down there"?
It's not a must or a deal breaker, but I prefer neatly trimmed.

Bonus (as in optional):What are a few of your favorite things (both sexual, non-sexual)?
I like being 'teased' until I'm almost out of control.
I like being on top.
I like using remote control 'toys' in public - letting The Man control the remote.

My soft, red robe.

1.) Do you get along with your significant other's parents? If you've never met their parents or if you're single, how did you usually get along with former SO's parents?
The Man's Dad lives in Texas, so we don't see enough of him to know if I'd 'get along' with him or not. When I have seen him, there's never been a problem. My MIL is another thing entirely. She lives very close and is in our business a lot. I am civil to her for The Man's sake, but there are times I really want to rip her a new one.

2.) Have you ever stolen a tip from a table while eating at a restaurant?
If you saw someone doing this, would you speak up or pretend you never saw anything?
I have seen it done before and told the person to put it back. I'd do it again if I ever see someone attempt to steal from a waiter/waitress.

3.) Do you have any sexual fantasies that you’d never admit to anyone?
I haven't told The Man ALL my fantasies, but he knows most. There is one that's kind of embarrassing to admit and I don't know how he'd take it.

4.) What smells do you find comforting?
White Diamonds perfume because it was my Mom's favorite. When I'm near someone that's wearing it, I 'drink it in'.
Baking bread, again, because of my Mom. She baked bread a lot.
The scent of honeysuckle because it reminds me of my favorite 'safe spot' that I'd go to when I was a kid.

5.) Do you ever resent your significant other for not earning more money?
What's to resent? He works his ass off and he makes what he makes.
Do you ever find yourself jealous because your SO earns more money than you?
Maybe I'm weird, but I've never even thought to be jealous of such a thing. We both work and contribute. Bills get paid. We have savings. We can afford what we need and most of what we want. If I make more or if he does, so what?

6.) If you had to wear a Halloween costume for 3 hours a day, ever day, for the rest of your life, which would it be and why?
I have to take in account the different seasons and aging since I am going to live a long life. I'm sensible like that. So, I'd say a white angel costume that I could adjust the length of the dress and with removable sleeves for work/warm weather. Oh and instead of a halo, I'd wear red, glittery devil horns 'cause who'd believe me to be an angel? ;)

7.) Have you ever had sex with someone and kept a piece of their undergarments or anything else for any reason?
Oh, I have a drawer full of stuff I could show you. HA!
Have you ever had someone want or try to keep something of yours?
From time to time. ;)
